Zane Goddard has finished P15 in his first Supercar race in the wet at the Sandown 500 during Round 5 of the Super2 Series Championship.
The Sandown 500 was the first time Goddard had driven on SuperSoft Tyres, the very same that the Supercars Championship races with.
Goddard qualified P22 for a wet Race 1 that began under Safety Car for two laps due to the wet weather.
The first Race of the weekend was Goddard’s first time driving a Supercar in the wet and his first time with the slick tyres.
The Rookie had a great race in treacherous conditions despite limited racing time due to Safety Cars, climbing 7 places in less than 22 laps to finish P15.
Goddard qualified P16 for the curtain-raising Race prior to the Sandown 500, improving on his finishing position the day before in calmer conditions.
The BJR Racer finished where he began due to the #8 Car struggling with tyre life throughout the final 22 lap Race.
“PRETTY TOUGH WEEKEND, DIDN’T REALLY GET THE RESULTS WE WERE HOPING FOR. IT WAS A MIXED BAG OF CONDITIONS WITH THE WEATHER, SATURDAY WAS ONE OF THE MORE EXCITING RACES I’VE BEEN IN, SUNDAY WE JUST COULDN’T MAKE THE TYRES LAST. DRIVING ON SUPERSOFTS WAS A NEW AND DIFFERENT EXPERIENCE WHICH WAS GREAT. PLENTY OF TRAINING AND WORKING WITH THE TEAM NOW BEFORE BATHURST.” – ZANE GODDARD
Goddard will now prepare for the Bathurst 1000, to be held on 4 – 7 October, with all Races to be broadcast LIVE on Fox Sports.
