Zane Goddard has finished 3rd Overall with P3, P2 & P3 Race Results at the Adelaide 500 for the opening Round of the Super2 Series.
Goddard qualified a career-best of P4 for the weekend despite becoming caught in traffic on his final run.
On his MW Motorsport debut, Goddard passed Barbera at Turn 9 on lap five for P2 and held his position until the chequered flag, despite two Safety Cars bringing the field together.
Goddard crossed the line 2 seconds behind the Race Leader for a P2 finish, marking Goddard’s maiden Super2 Series podium in only his second year in the category.
Goddard began the second 19-lap Race from P2, starting from where he finished the day prior.
The MW Motorsport Driver had a good start, but eventual Race winner Kostecki squeezed the inside of Goddard and he dropped to P3.
Goddard finished on the final step of the podium, his second visit to victory lane of the weekend.
Starting from the second row for Sunday’s final Race, Goddard kept clean in the Race and finished where he began in P3.
Goddard’s third and final podium result for the weekend meant he finished 3rd Overall for the round.
Goddard now sits 3rd in the Super2 Championship Standings after the first of the seven rounds in the Series.
“Stoked with my best round so far, I can’t thank the guys at MW Motorsport enough, they’ve done such a fantastic job. Coming into this round, to stay in the Top 3 for the whole Round, I’m over the moon. The car was super forgiving, if you have a slight drama it is easy to sort it out so that’s the best thing about the car, it gives us the confidence to push the car around the streets. If we keep chipping away at what we are doing I’m hoping a Top 3 in the Championship is a possibility.” – ZANE GODDARD
Goddard will now prepare for the Perth SuperNight for Round 2 of the 2019 Super2 Series, to be held on 2 – 4 May.
