GODDARD FIGHTS THE ELEMENTS AT BARBAGALLO

Zane Goddard has finished the chaotic Perth SuperSprint with a handful of promising Race Results.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Zane finished P7 in Practice 2.
  • Zane finished P14 in Race 3.

Race 1 – Position 15

Goddard lost his chance at a good starting position for Race 1 when the red flag dropped in Qualifying just before he crossed the line on his flying lap.

Goddard qualified P14 for the opening Race at the Perth SuperSprint after finishing P7 and P17 in his first laps on Barbagallo Raceway.

The BGD Architects Driver was expecting the tyre wear to be more severe in Saturday’s sole race, and the sand on the track from the category before-hand made the track conditions tough.

Goddard dropped one position to finish P15 after some tight battles and believed there was more in the car for Sunday’s Races

Race 2 – Position 19

Goddard was again luckless in the second 10-minute Qualifying session when his flying lap was hampered by a car exiting the pits and he finished in P16.

Starting from P16, Goddard had a tough start off the line in the scattered the rain and wind conditions and dropped serval positions.

The car was just outside the setup window but was worked on prior to the final 28 Lap Race.

Race 3 – Position 14

Goddard began the final Race of the round from P17 as the grid positions were decided from the combined results of Qualifying sessions 1 & 2.

A solid final Race in Perth for Goddard in the mixed conditions made for an interesting case with carnage throughout the field, however, the rookie was able to move up into P14.

Goddard was happy to finish the final Race in P14 with a clean car and is now looking forward to debriefing and coming back strong at the Townsville 400 in July.

“The mixed conditions in Perth this weekend made for an interesting weekend, we had a solid final Race and showed some pace over the weekend but now just need to do some fine-tuning on the car before we head to North Queensland in July.”

Goddard will now prepare for the Townsville 400, to be held on 06 – 08 July, with all Races to be broadcast LIVE on Fox Sports.
