Zane Goddard has finished P10 at the Bathurst 1000 for Round 5 of the 2019 Super2 Series Championship.
Finishing P6 & P3 in the limited Practice sessions for the Super2 Series, Goddard had a brush with the wall after hitting a puddle in Qualifying and exited the session early, but his time was still able to rank P9 by the end of the session.
Starting from the fifth row of the Grid, Goddard had a good start to the Race and made his way up to P5 in the first stint of his Race.
Unfortunately, Goddard overshot the entry into Pit Lane and had to do another lap as a result, causing the #28 Nissan to become fuel critical.
Goddard had to run half throttle to get around the mountain again and lost positions and rejoined the Race in P9.
Adding to his bad luck, Goddard suffered an issue with the right rear tyre and dropped to P10 before the chequered flag.
Goddard has dropped from 2nd in the Super2 Series to 4th due to his tough finish at Mount Panorama, however he is only 11 points behind 3rd position in the Standings.
“Not the one we were hoping for. We had a good start and I got off the line well, but I was a bit of a limping deer towards the end there but it is what it is! Sandown coming up which is cool we’ll have super softs which is something different and hoping to turn the form around and making the points that we need.” – ZANE GODDARD
Goddard’s next event will be the Gold Coast 600 for Round 6 of the 2019 Super2 Series, to be held on 25 – 27 October.
